Epcot is Disney’s second biggest theme park, second only to Animal Kingdom. Not only is the physical size of the park massive, but Epcot is also one of the busiest theme parks in the world, by annual attendance. A full day of exploring Epcot can be a true test of endurance, both physically and mentally.
Fortunately, Epcot offers a wide range of options for places to take a break and get away from the crowds for a bit to make your day in the park a more enjoyable and less hectic experience.
We know that taking a break during your park day can be difficult to do, because you want to experience as much as possible in the limited amount of time you have to enjoy your vacation. For situations like those where you want to keep the fun going while taking a breather during your day, we have put together our list of top 3 attractions to take a breather at Epcot.
Here are our top 3 attractions to take a breather at Epcot:
Spaceship Earth/Project Tomorrow
When people think of Epcot, the first thing that comes to mind is the iconic 18-story geodesic sphere that is the symbol of the park. Many locals and regular WDW visitors refer to it as “the golf ball”.
Not only is Spaceship Earth the iconic structure for which Epcot is most known, it is also a 15 minute dark ride that typically has a short wait time and provides a fantastic opportunity to take a break from the heat, weather, crowds, and walking that guests encounter during their park day.
Spaceship Earth takes guests on a slow ride back through history to experience the progress mankind has made in communication since the beginning of its existence.
This attraction will be undergoing a full re-imagining over the next couple of years, but it is a great option to take a breather during your park day, while it is still open.
The post-ride area, Project Tomorrow, provides guests with an educational and entertaining experience while they enjoy some extra time in an air-conditioned room.
Living With the Land
Located inside The Land pavilion, Living With the Land is a 20 minute attraction that takes guests on a slow boat ride. It is a combination of a dark ride and a greenhouse tour.
This is another entertaining and educational experience that is fun and interesting for all ages. The attraction focuses on agriculture and the advances in modern agricultural technology.
A fun fact about the greenhouses that guests get to see in this attraction is that they are not just in existence for the purpose of the attraction itself. Many of the plants grown in the greenhouses are later moved and planted throughout Epcot. The produce grown in the greenhouses is used in recipes at select restaurants in the park. Some of the fish in the Aquacell area of the attraction are harvested and served in the Coral Reef restaurant.
Stand-by wait times tend to quite short for this attraction throughout the day, so this is a great option to keep in mind when you want to take a breather. It is lengthy, relaxing, educational, entertaining, and enjoyable for the whole family.
Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros
Inside the pyramid in World Showcase’s Mexico pavilion, you will find Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros. This is another slow, dark ride boat attraction that is a great option for the whole family. Due to the location of this attraction, it seems almost hidden, which helps to keep the stand-by wait times short throughout the day.
Unlike the other attractions in our top 3, at well under 10 minutes, the duration of this ride is not really long.
The attraction is based on the 1944 film of the same name, and takes guests on an adventure to find Donald Duck when he goes missing as The Three Caballeros are preparing to perform. The boat follows along as Panchito and José search for their missing friend.
Animatronics along with footage from the film take guests on the journey to find Donald and reunite him with the other Caballeros.
The Three Caballeros are reunited in Mexico City at the end of the attraction and are performing their concert as fireworks are going off overhead.
Aspects of this attraction have similarities to It’s a Small World. If you enjoy that attraction at Magic Kingdom, then you will very likely enjoy this attraction at Epcot, as well.
While we focused on the attractions for this post, Epcot has a lot of great places to take a breather when needed. World Showcase has several bars, for guests who are of age, to relax and enjoy an adult beverage. Each pavilion around World Showcase is full of things to see and do.
The films that show in the Canada, France, and China pavilions are also great options when you want to take a break. We would like to include those films as honorable mentions on our list. They will all be updated in the near future, so stay tuned for those updates to be completed.
