What’s New at WDW? Catch Up on the Latest Announcements and News

Disney has been announcing a lot of changes in the WDW parks recently, and we want to bring you up to date on the latest announcements.

The majority of the announcements have been focused on Epcot, so we will start there:

  • Liberty Inn, the quick service restaurant in The American Adventure pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase, officially closed on July 8th, 2019. Although an official opening date has not yet been announced, Liberty Inn will be replaced by Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue later in 2019. Stay tuned for more information on this new restaurant as more details and an official opening date are announced.
  • Fountain of Nations, Nanooze Break, Colortopia, Character Spot, and Club Cool will all be closing on September 8th, 2019. Character Spot and Club Cool are both expected to re-open at a later date, yet to be announced.
  • Electric Umbrella and Fountain View will both be closing on November 23rd, 2019.
  • Mouse Gear will be moved to a temporary location while its current location is reimagined.
  • Art of Disney will be moving to a temporary location, before moving permanently to Heritage Manor in The American Adventure pavilion.
  • Pin Central will also be moving to a temporary location, before moving permanently to the location that is currently Camera Center.
  • Takumi-Tei, a new signature table-service restaurant is now open in World Showcase’s Japan pavilion. We haven’t experienced this restaurant yet, but friends who have been there have been raving about it.

Moving over to Hollywood Studios:

  • Disney just announced that December 5th, 2019 will be the opening date for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. For those of you on the west coast, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be opening in Disneyland Park on January 17th, 2020.

And just a quick update on some rumors surrounding a couple of classic attractions at Magic Kingdom:

  • In recent weeks, rumors have been spreading on the internet about WDW closing Country Bear Jamboree and Enchanted Tiki Room. These rumors were met with a lot of negative feedback from many Disney fans who love these classics. In response, Disney officially put an end to these rumors and issued a statement stating that both attractions will, in fact, be a part of the 50th anniversary of WDW in 2021.

More announcements will be made as we approach the D23 convention coming up later this summer. As more significant announcements are made, we will keep you up to date on the changes that are coming to WDW. Stay tuned!!

XOXO, Halie and Danny
